I am so excited to be a trainer here at Muddy Water Crossfit. I was fifteen when my cousin first invited me to join him for a new fitness “class” he was going to try out. I had had a decently active childhood; although I was never involved in team sports or anything similar, most of my childhood was lived outside. As I got into highschool and had more schoolwork though, my activity levels and fitness dropped. I still remember vividly the first time I was able to run 400 meters without stopping (this was several months after starting CrossFit!) I continued doing Crossfit at several different gyms over the next five years, usually two or three times a week, with time off here and there due to moves. I loved it and secretly wanted to be a coach someday So Badly. After about a year away from CrossFit, I starting getting back into fitness, and the semester before moving to Cape for school, I studied for and took the test to become an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. During my first semester of school I joined Muddy for a few months and started catching the CF bug again; the following semester I rejoined the day I took my last final and have been more consistent than ever before since that day.
I was thrilled to get the chance to take the CF level 1 trainers’ course in February of 2016 along with Hannah Hembree. It was an eye-opening experience and the amount of information and practice the course offered was staggering. Muddy members and staff have been just super to work with as I’ve begun honing my coaching skills. I am humbled by their grace and patience. Having taken the CrossFit Kids certification now, I’m also excited to begin assisting with that as much as my schedule allows.
My goal and passion is to help everyone who walks through our doors discover that they are capable of so much more than they dreamed possible, both inside the gym and outside. Whether you are old or young, currently active or not, working out here at Muddy will be one of the best things you ever do for yourself. As a trainer, what I love doing is working with you and your current abilities to help you get fitter, stronger, and more energized while having fun and getting involved with a great community of people.
