CrossFit can appear intimidating from the outside and often sends people running. It’s human nature to fear the unknown.

If you have any fears about CrossFit, simply remember this: scalable, relative intensity, and COMMUNITY! Everything you do at Muddy Water CrossFit will be scaled to YOUR CURRENT LEVEL OF FITNESS and capabilities. The weights used may be different than that of others, but the relative intensity puts everyone on the same playing field! When you walk in the gym it is important to remember that the person on the bar was once in your shoes. You will be encourage and pushed by amazing people that are all here for the same reason: to get fit!

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is Constantly Varied, Functional Movements Executed at High Intensity

Constantly varied:
Every day when you walk into Muddy Water CrossFit you will have the Workout of the Day “WOD” on the board. The WOD will be different every day and may vary from running, jump roping, climbing a rope and rowing in an endless variety of drills to include: the clean & jerk, snatch, squat, deadlift, push-press, bench-press, and power-clean. Jumping, medicine ball throws and catches, pull-ups, dips, push-ups, handstands, presses to handstand, pirouettes, kips, cartwheels, muscle-ups, sit-ups, scales, and holds. We make regular use of bikes, the track, rowing shells and ergometers, Olympic weight sets, rings, parallel bars, free exercise mat, horizontal bar, plyometrics boxes, medicine balls, and jump rope. Not only will the workout be varied but the duration and distance will vary from long, middle, and/or short.

Functional Movements:
We only do movements that are natural and used in everyday life. Every day you have to pick up something off the ground which is a Deadlift, or lift something over your head which is a push press, get up from a seated position known as the Air Squat. The movements are also multi-joint so you can get a full body workout in just two or three movements. Decrepitude is inevitable; Muddy Water CrossFit’s goal is to prolong that as long as possible.

High Intensity:
Intensity is defined as power which is the ability to move large loads over a long distance. Intensity is the most important variable to become physically fit. Multiple studies have shown your body adapts to exercise at a much faster rate when it is executed at high intensity. These discoveries allow you to be in and out of the gym in 1 hour with the best workout of your life.
