I started out my fitness journey at a local gym in Cape Girardeau named Health Point. There I was working out with a friend 3-4 days a week for nearly 2 hours each day. I loved working out with my friend and felt I was really doing my body a great service. It wasn’t until about 2 years later that I discovered CrossFit and realized what I was doing before was closer to actually doing nothing at all.
I started my CrossFit path at CrossFit 573 in 2012. I was a member there for nearly two years before realizing I wanted much more than they could offer me. Thanks to my friends Laura, Matt and Monica, we all made the move to Muddy Water together in March 2014. We had a desire to become better athletes and push our bodies to its full potential.
The thing I appreciate the most about Muddy is the community. I absolutely love all of our members and love how we are all such a tight knit group. Each member brings a different light to the community. There is camaraderie, encouragement, uplifting, trash talking and most of all a sheer joy to see each and every member succeed.
The most important thing I have learned since starting CrossFit is that it is not about who finishes first, who the best is, or what your time is. CrossFit is about a group of people putting in hard work together with the same goal. Each person finishes the workout to the best of their individual ability and encourages others around them to do the same. CrossFit and the community at Muddy Water make me strive to be a better person in every aspect of my life.
